Happy Valentine's Day!
It's that time of year to show some love to those people in your life that mean the most to you.
You may be a hopeless romantic, or one of those who don't show much affection, but given all we've been through in the past two years, it might not be a bad idea to pause for a moment and show some love to those that mean the most to you.
Believe me, there's people who love to do that, and unfortunately, they don't have that opportunity.
What do you say?
So, while you ponder on that, I'd like to share with you some ways you can fall in love with your house.
What if we learned to love where we are at, and quit looking for something bigger, better, smaller, and just appreciated the home and the space that we are in?
What do you think life would be like if it was lived in a way to show how content we were?
That what we had was simply enough.
So, while I can't help you to show love to those people in your lives (which I hope you do and you will), I can give you some ideas on how to show some love to the house you are in:
Declutter - if you've been putting that off, put it on the top of your list. You will be amazed at the difference in your home, closet, or garage. Donate or repurpose items that you haven't used recently. Less is more.
Along with this, give your home a good cleaning. You can do this, or there are many top-notch cleaning services that will do this for you. Spring is coming, and what better time than to get a start on a good deep clean? If you've ever had your car detailed, you know that feeling of looking forward to getting in and driving. Well, it's the same for your home! You look forward to coming home to a clean and decluttered space...it's good for the soul!
Plants or indoor flowers make such a difference! Even if you don't have a green thumb, invest in some silk flowers or an imitation plant. It gives you a connection with nature, and there's something about flowers that just makes you want to smile! Pickup a cheap bouquet to add a real touch of Spring to your home!
Rearranging the furniture can really make an impact. Something as simple as moving the couch or a chair can really transform a room.
Look at updating or changing accessories in your home. I'm talking throw pillows, a new bedspread, changing out some pictures - nothing that costs a lot of money, but again can really make you fall in love with your home again.
Painting a room is a great way to completely enhance a home makeover! The colors are endless, and there's nothing that screams clean like a freshly painted room. Here is a link that highlights some of those for you: 15 Best Paint Colors for 2022 - 2022 Paint Color Trends (goodhousekeeping.com)
How about some new lighting? Updating lamps, or light fixtures is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to show your home some love. Make sure you are using LED lightbulbs while you are updating.
Is it time to update your window treatments? Again, you can go fairly cheap, or make an investment that will add to the beauty of your home. I believe that light can make a big difference in a room, so let the sunshine in!
Buy a new set of dishes and make a point to eat more meals at home. You will be amazed at the money you will save, and once you give your home a mini makeover, why would you want to spend time eating in a restaurant?
In fact, once you are done with making a few of these changes, and learning to love your home again, you will be surprised at the peace and solace you will feel when you are there.
There's actually a book called "How to Fall in Love With Your Home" and I've attached the link here if you'd like to check it out - How to Fall in Love with Your Home - The Inspired Room

Just like people, your home also needs a little tender loving care, and hopefully you've gotten a few ideas that will help to accomplish that!
Happy Valentine's Day....and call CHS and call it done!
