Small Jobs

My first blog of 2022.

As I was looking at various topics for inspiration, I came across this quote from Henry Ford.

We all know who Henry Ford is - he invented the automobile, remember?

I wonder how many times he tried before he was successful?

Aren't you glad that he never gave up?

It really inspired me, and I hope it will inspire you as well!

He took the "big job" and broke it down into "small jobs," and as a result, the world was forever changed.

This is the time of year that we look ahead and set some goals.

But how do we get there?

Why do many of us fail to act?

What are we afraid of?

Failure? Ridicule? Success?

What do we lack?

Confidence? Skills? Resources?

Sometimes, we just can analyze things too much, a term I call analysis paralysis, so we never get out of the gate.

We think of excuses - I'm too, old/young, I'm too skinny/fat, I'm too______(you fill in the blank.)

So, let's take some advice from our friend Henry Ford.

What if we break that "big job" into "small jobs?"

I really like this as a visual, because I work on a variety of jobs, both large and small.

The first thing in any project, is keeping the goal in mind.

What do you want to accomplish?

What is the road map to get there?

Do I need to ask for help or get training - there's no shame in asking for help!

I think we sometimes feel that is a sign of weakness, but trust me, it is a sign of strength!

Whatever the "big job" is for you this year - starting a new job, learning a new skill, losing weight, or tackling that bathroom makeover, break it down into "smaller jobs."

Each "small job" that you complete will build your skills and self-confidence and move you closer to completing the "big job."

You will gain momentum as each of those "small jobs" gets completed.

Once you've gained that confidence, skill set, and experience it's yours for life.

Nobody can take that away from you.

So that first "big job" didn't go so well - so what?

You've got experience and wisdom from it in your back pocket, so hopefully the next one will go a bit smoother.

Life and experience are the best teachers, but we need to take the opportunity to allow us to experience both.

I'd be happy to help you with your home repair "small job" needs in the New Year...continuing to earn your trust and your business is my "big job."

We have much to accomplish!

Cheers to 2022!
